When 8 year-old Hayley Orlinsky of Chicago heard on the news that doctors and nurses were running out of masks and other PPE at the onset of the pandemic, she sprang into action and decided to use her talents making bracelets to raise money for the hospital. She has spent the last year selling bracelets to give back to the hospital that she received care from as a baby in their NICU. Her original goal was to raise $200 to give to the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago but she has raised more than $50,000 and made over 15,000 bracelets!
Hayley's donation has made a larger impact that just within the hospital walls, the hospital was able to distribute PPE to the community as well!
How will Hayley use this money for her future?
I want to use the money for college. I want to be a news anchor. I was inspired by all of the amazing news anchors that I've met along my bracelet fundraiser who have shared positive stories with the world.
What are Hayley's biggest hopes and dreams?
I hope to see a world where kindness isn't recognized, because it will be all around us. I want to inspire others to be kind and to use their voice and talents to help others, no matter their age.
